and then there were four.February 21st, 2012

Last Sunday on the nineteenth, my sister had her second baby. Such exciting times! Maxy, my big-boy nephew, went up to see Mummy, Daddy and baby Johnny for the first time and we got a few nice little photos of the love. I got a few cuddles in too. He’s such a tiny little freshy and just a bundle of cuteness. Fun times ahead with these two boys, that’s for sure!

Pete & EmilyFebruary 15th, 2012

The lovely Pete and Emily wanted to share their love story through photos as a unique way to announce their engagement to their family and friends. Although it poured with rain through pretty much the entire photo shoot, we managed to get the shots we wanted. Major props to Emily who made pretty much everything for their picnic scene (except the cupcakes, spectacular job by Pete :D )
Beautiful people! Looking forward to their engagement party and wedding to come!!

To Do List in QueenstownJanuary 9th, 2012

So I’ve decided to blog about my travels to Queenstown (and maybe to other places when the opportunity arises). This is my list of favourite places, touristy and not-so-touristy, to go when we’re there, which seems to be often. If you find yourself in the lovely Queenstown, here’s where I recommend you go:

Les Alpes Restaurant
An absolute must. This little French nook has the yummiest food, such a homey atmosphere and the loveliest people there. When we go we do a lunch of their delish ham & cheese croissants and french fries with aioli. You cannot leave Q-town without having something out of their pastry cabinet too! Soooo good! Merci beaucoup!

Queenstown Frisbee Park
Take a walk along the main beach until you hit the coolest park maybe ever. Make sure u have a frisbee and your camera before u venture in. There’s an amazing little frisbee course (sort of like a golf course) that goes all the way around the park. In the summertime it stays light until about 9ish at night so you can play frisbee well past your bedtime! Also there’s the most remarkable rose garden towards the back of the park. Pretty sure these babies bloom all year round as I’ve been in Summer and Winter and they’ve always got an amazing show on. Stroll down through the pine forest at the end of the park (don’t forget to take in that amazing smell of the pine trees) and sit on the park bench that faces the water. One word. Perfection.

In the Pink
If ur a gal like me you’ll completely understand the female need to treat yourself to a little gift while holidaying. If you’re going to do that, do it here. Cute cute cute! I could literally spend hours in here finding cutesy little things and I would have no problem giving you every reason why I need to purchase everything I see. And in New Zealand tradition, lovely people there too. I’ve bought something from there nearly every time I’ve been to Queenstown. Evidence below…

The Queenstown Bakery
I am forever craving baked goods and I just so happened to discover this amazing bakery. They have a huge range of yummy savories and sweets and (my favorite) Macarons to die for! Had a little chat with the macaron chef when we were there last, lovely guy (surprise surprise!). He was up for suggestions of flavors (though he’s pretty much covered everything) so i suggested a white chocolate and raspberry flavored Macaron since I love that combination in just about anything. Keep your eyes peeled for it if you’re there. Not sure he took me too seriously though…

The Luge
I was skeptical about this one. I’m always skeptical about the ones that everyone raves about. This is purely because I hate crowds, and if everyone’s raved to somebody then that place is going to be packed (like Fergburger at all hours of the day). But I took one for the team and went up the Skyline Gondola to suss it out. If you’re afraid of heights (like me) and you can master the ski lift to get to the top of the Luge then brill. Coming down that hill on those go-cart things was so much more fun than I anticipated, I must admit. If you’re one for a bit of active fun and thrill, this one’s for you.
(No one does it quite as fast as Darren though. Just couldn’t overtake him)

The Lake
Just about anywhere around the water is a beautiful place to be. On the 45 minute trip out to Glenorchy we stopped off to take in the sites down by the lake. This is a must. That drive from Queenstown to Glenorchy is an amazing one but it’s just not the same without getting out, putting your feet in the water, skimming a few stones and breathing the fresh air in. Just don’t skinny dip in that freezing water like my brother did. Yikes, that would be painful.

Glenorchy
In Summer this place is pumping with people, in Winter though it’s a little quieter. On your way driving through this tiny little town stop in at Foxy’s Cafe and sample a giant homemade chocolate chip cookie (I have mentioned too many baked sweets in this blog..). This cookie is one for the books.
Take a little drive down to the jetty too where the little red shed is. Perfect photo opportunities to be had here.

Arrowtown
A small town just out of Queenstown, a quick little drive through the countryside. Here it’s very much the same as Glenorchy, depending on the time of year this can be a very busy little spot. There’s almost a list within this one. There’s a bakery here too…(no, not for sweets). This one has great pies. Bolognaise pie is my recommendation. Yum! In the Summer if you stroll down the main stretch they sell the most delicious cherries you’ll probably ever have, and round the back of the main street you can find another place for great Summer treats, Patagonia’s. Home of fantastic ice creams and chocolates, Marscapone Cheese and Berry ice cream is my pick.

So that’s my list. If you visit and can find any other little, great places to go let me know. Maybe I’ll see you there next time :)

Mark & AllyceDecember 19th, 2011

A trip down to The Spit with Mark and Allyce for a bit of a fun, lovey dovey photo shoot. The lovely Allyce also modelled some of my new hand painted, hand carved wooden bangles that I’ve been making. Love her! Love them!! Thanks for being great subjects you too, and for loving each other so wonderfully!
ps. keep your eyes peeled folks for a new online shop in the new year with fantastic hand made goodies, made by yours truly.

Josh & BolindaNovember 14th, 2011

Last weekend my huzzie husband and I jetsetted down to the beautiful Hunter Valley to capture the loveliness of Josh and Bo’s big day. Loveliness is an understatement, that’s for sure! It was a perfect day for tying the knot and the perfect place for it! Josh and Bo had an intimate outdoor wedding with just their closest family at The Chateau Elan and after they made their promises to each other they jumped on a golf buggy with us and had some fun in the vineyards on the hills of the Hunter. The evening finished off just right with a family dinner in The Carriage House, some warming speeches and a bit of a groove on the dance floor. I feel so honored to have been a part of their amazing day. Congratulations again Josh and Bo!! Beautiful people!
